Faraway Garden can be found in a valley, nestled beneath a winding hill range an hour from Auckland city, New Zealand. The landscape of the garden slopes gently down to spurs of old native trees that shade a river.

As Faraway Garden grows, we learn alongside her. One of our faraway hero's, Vita Sackville West once said, “The more one gardens, the more one learns; and the more one learns, the more one realises how little one knows.” And this is what for us makes it so wonderful - the changes, the challenges, the unexpected - and the beauty that is everywhere. From the dew on a spider's web at dawn to the layers of shadows as far as the eye can see.

Gardens are places of quiet transformation and discovery, from the ever-changing plants, the creatures that share it, to the land itself. A garden is a miracle that's always giving. Another one of our hero's, Monty Don says, “a garden is not a place. It's a journey”. 

As we create our garden, we have crafted and sourced a collection of lasting outdoor objects to complement its spaces, as they give a home to flowers, plants and trees and add an extra layer of artistry and interest to the landscape.
