Faraway Garden Three Graces

GS010S

The Faraway Garden Three Graces is a perfectly proportioned garden statue based on the original Antonio Canova's statue depicting a neo-classical sculpture of the mythological three Charities, three of the 41 children claimed to be fathered by Zeus.

The eldest in the centre is Aglaea, or 'Splendour', the middle daughter on the right is Euphrosyne, 'Good Cheer' and the youngest Thalia on left, 'Festivity'. They were thought to be the goddesses of charm, beauty, fertility and creativity and they presided over banquets and gatherings primarily to delight the guests of the gods.

This beautiful statue works wonderfully as a centrepiece in a rose garden, in a formal knot garden or nestled in an herbaceous border. It makes an impressive focal point when raised on a pedestal in a flower bed, circular water feature or at the end of a green hedge walk. It looks great treated with a sepia wash for an aged effect as shown in photo. It is shown here on our Hermes pedestal (sold separately).

Over many years, statues have played a prominent role as focal points in gardens. From the most grand and ornate gardens with large figures, to small creatures in a naturalistic setting, statues bring life and surprise to a garden.

Available in Sepia.
